Looking at this add for the clothing company Guess what do you see?
What is the message this add is sending out to the public?

When I look at this add I see male dominance. This is because the male in the photo is slightly taller then the female, the colour of the jacket he is wearing give the idea power. If you look even closer it is similar, if not exactly the same color as the camera in the background. This could sugguest that if a female wants to be succesful in the entertainment business she needs to look seductive, and sexy like the one shown here. The woman is dressed in a much lighter outfit which gives the idea that she is helpless or is given less control over her body.

However,This dark colour is also present in the beads across her chest, bathing suite top and in the long necklace that traces down her bare stomach. This sugguests that the only way for her to be successful and reconized is if she uses the characteristice of her body. I also see that this ad could send the message to woman that its okay to give a man what he wants(sex) at the expense of exposing her body and her own happiness. I do not see any personal connection between the male and female in this ad, except a sexual one (for the male). This is because although their bodies are touching and the males hands are placed at the side of the females stomach, the males face is facing inward towards hers, but the females is looking towards the camera showing that they are completley disconnected with one another emotionally, and personally. It basically looks like the male is taking advantage of her the expression on her face does not show any interest in the male at all, as I said before they look completley disconnected.

Guess's message to men in my opinion: Wear our clothing line and seduce women, feel empowered and dominant over women.

Guess's message to woman in my opinion: Show off your body to get what you want in life, use sex to achieve your goals. Forget being intelligent and having respect for your self Guess will make up for everything you are sacrificing.
